Barka is an urban vixen who reared her five cubs in an urban garden. The cubs were born under the decking and emerged at Easter. They were tiny brown bundles and the garden owner was very concerned as the cubs’ parents had not been seen. However our trail camera footage revealed that both parents, Mum Barka and Danny Bear were incredibly committed parents visiting the cubs throughout the night to nurse and feed them. There also was an auntie involved in rearing the young. The foxes were lucky to also have the support of the wildlife-friendly garden owner. The precious footage we captured of the vixen, her beau and an auntie rearing the cubs can be seen in our short film “A Foxy Family Affair”.
